Thy Kingdom Come Poem by Joe Fraccalvieri

Thy Kingdom Come

I came to the Doorway of Tomorrow
with the wisdom of ages I came
and with infinite time I could borrow...
I stayed but merely a day

I came to claim the Soul of Man
to proclaim God's heavenly name
And I wasn't alone
when I left from His throne...
with angels I came
but I sent them away

I came down the road less traveled...
where others had gone but turned back
and I stopped
by what looked like a wall in the way
at the end of this desolate track

It was covered with wriggling worms
and assorted weeds
I discovered the scribbled words
of some sordid deeds

And for a while I just sat there
and wondered...
how amusing, how wonderf'ly rare
that fear can become contradiction
when the barrier that blocks you
is bare

And each brick stood as conviction
but only as solid as stagnant air
Then I understood its truth as it hit me
when suddenly the wall wasn't there

It was then all at once that I knew
as I fell and my world flew apart…
Where others had failed to continue
at this dead end-- my journey would start
