Timbuktu Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Timbuktu

Far, far away, a city sleeps,
Where desert sands in secrets keep.
Timbuktu, a whispered name,
A far-off land, a burning flame.

Once a hub where traders met,
Gold and salt, a golden net.
Ivory bright and treasures rare,
Carried in the desert air.

Empires rose and empires fell,
But tales of Timbuktu still they tell.
Of learning deep and knowledge bright,
Shining in the sun's warm light.

North from Niger, south of sand,
A legend from a distant land.
Timbuktu, a dream so grand.
