Time Poem by Alfred Ramos

Time

Sometimes time just flies by
You couldn’t catch it if you try
As racing clouds erase the cold blue sky
Seconds tick on
The late hour brings the dawn
I look over my shoulder to see if you’re really gone
Sometimes time just stands still
And it will squeeze you till
You have no time left to kill
The hour lingers on
Something I can’t put my fingers on
Where you’re the Queen and I the pawn
Sometimes it’s better not to think
How much deeper I can sink
Sometimes it’s better not to cry
Forget the years we let slip by
Sometimes it better not to pray
Everything isn’t black or white, it’s gray
Sometimes time will do you in
You couldn’t start to begin
To understand man’s original sin
The years have passed on
And I can’t just wave a wand
To bring back all that’s been gone
