We all know her
'cause we've all found her to be very valuable.
People say to "take your time, "
but they also say "time is limited."
Talking to you has shown me that's true.
4 seconds doesn't seem that long,
yet a lot can happen in those seconds.
Minutes can pass by fast,
flashing without people even knowing.
An hour can feel like forever—
but also go by so fast.
4 seconds is all it really took for us to start talking.
Within a couple of minutes,
we began to connect with one another.
Yet an hour is what stood against us
when time was most wanted.
To you, an hour doesn't seem like a lot,
but it can seem like everything from my standpoint:
4 o'clock for you,
5 o'clock for me.
12 at night for you,
1 in the morning for me.
You sleep late,
I fall asleep half the time.
I wake up early for school,
you're still in bed,
not even hitting "snooze" yet.
You have practice,
I have homework.
One day you'll realize,
just as I did,
that time can mean everything.
It can be fast and harsh—
or maybe even slow and relaxed.
Either way, time will always stand in our way,
no matter how long we stay awake
or how late we fall asleep.
