Time Even To Love Poem by Francis Duggan

Time Even To Love

Time even to love can become a foe
He used to love her many Seasons ago
But she did not love him at least not back then
And she left him in the club of love's disappointed men

But the love he had for her in him is long dead
And nowadays when they meet nothing between them is said
To each other they do have nothing to say
And pass each other in silence without saying good day

That love's feelings last a lifetime is surely a lie
He will not be in love with her until the day he does die
She did not even remain as the love of his life
This honour belong to his now long term wife

Love is like a flower when in full bloom beautiful to behold
That loses it's beauty as it quickly grows old
It's petals become food for ground insects who live on decay
That most loves too have a time span it does seem this way

He used to love her on days now long past
But the love he had for her over time did not last
Nowadays when they meet to each other they have nothing to say
They pass each other by without a hello or good day.
