Time Runs Too Slowly On The Lines Poem by RIC BASTASA

Time Runs Too Slowly On The Lines

how slow
can time run on the lines
of electricity
that which is generated
by that poem
that prefers the silence
of the lips
that which does not speak
but screams
in every letter in everything
in between

how slow can time choke us
and yet we still refuse to accept
its intentions of death

we look at the other side of
our melancholy
there is a bridge and there are trees
below
and there is a creek
more likely to be empty
before the
next summer's day
