Time's Promise Poem by robert dickerson

Time's Promise

Darkening shadows, deepening creases
sleepless nights and in the morning
a thousand cares! White hair sprouts
overnight among the dark. Slack
where once taut, taut where slack
we linger, behind us a garden
at our feet an abyss
