Times Arrow Poem by Franklin J. Warren

Times Arrow

I do know where I am in time,

A lonely place to sit and rhyme,

These poems of thoughts and desire,

Before going to that funeral fire.

I know my time here is short,

And without a cohort,

The days are long and lonely,

And have been thinking of you only.

I feel a closeness I do not understand,

But have the desire to be a man,

And show the level of desire and concern,

Of what I yearn.

I don't know if I can get past thirty years,

Of deprivation and all the tears,

But would surely like to try and see,

If these functions would return to me?

But I would never go without consent,

And always remain a gent,

And accept with gratitude what is allowed,

That leaves my head unbowed.
