Tired Poem by Teagan Kai

Tired

Darkness comes
emotions flee
A desperate sigh
an unheard scream

An unspoken hope waiting to be heard
His grasp starts to loosen as he becomes hurt
“It’s just too much” he whispers in the dark
His words fall away and it pierces my heart

The dark circles around his eyes
the pain in his tears
He wants to let go
but my words bring him near

The exasperation in his voice
it runs though my ears
The pain in his eyes
he hides behind his peers

The mask keeps him hidden
but his real self starts to come through
In hopes that eventually to himself he can be true

He pleads for mercy and begs for grace
He’s ashamed of himself
he hides his face.

He has no love he feels no peace
but one call to God is all he needs
Soft words and understanding bring him to an end
I know that this time saved is a friend
