Titans And New Gods Poem by Frederick JB Moore II

Titans And New Gods

I never wanted to be your legacy-
Your Shadow would outcaste me.

You were a great man,
With a great many talents,
I am your son- your heir,
But not your replacement.

I can't say I'll go on
Living for you,
But I can say
You'd never ask that of me.

All-in-all, I'd say you raised me right.
Thank you for your time.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Many of those who read my poetry will not be aware that recently my father passed away. He suffered from congested heart failure for nearly sixteen years. In that time, he was never sure which year could have been his last so he always made sure to pour everything into me that he could. He was a good man, and he fought veryday to stay in this world for my sake.

Thank you for your time! Appreciative yet highly formal for a statement from a son to a father. Seems this formal relationship worked to cultivate a kind of established and grand respect!
