(A lone figure stands under a dim spotlight, trembling slightly, eyes glistening. The world seems distant, yet every word carries the weight of vulnerability.)
Do you see me? Really see me? Not the mask I wear… not the armor I pretend shields me… but me… the raw, bleeding me? I have learned, perhaps too late, that to hide is to rot from the inside. I have clasped my chest, locked my passions, buried my desires… thinking it was strength… thinking it was safety…
But what is life without its fire? Without its tremors of joy, without the sting of sorrow that reminds you you are alive? I have worn smiles like costumes, polite nods like shields, and yet inside… inside… my heart screamed. And I… I kept it caged.
No longer. No! I will no longer whisper in shadows what I feel in flames. I will wear my heart on my sleeve, for all the world to witness! Let them see my tears, my laughter, my rage, my love… all of it! If I am wounded, they will see the wound. If I soar, they will see the wings! I am done pretending that strength lies in silence. Strength… true strength… lies in daring to be seen as I am… wholly… vulnerably… beautifully.
And yes… yes, it will hurt. Oh, it will burn like a thousand suns to lay bare the chambers of my soul. But I would rather bleed in honesty than live in the suffocating cold of pretense. Let them judge, let them pity, let them envy… I will not hide. My heart will not whisper behind locked doors. My heart will dance in the open, for those who dare to look may glimpse the essence of me… unguarded, unapologetic, alive!
So here I stand! No veil, no mask, no shield… only the raw, untempered truth of me. Wear your heart on your sleeve, they say… and oh, I shall. I shall wear it like a banner, fluttering in the storm… defiant… radiant… free.
(Pauses, chest heaving, eyes glistening. A trembling smile of release spreads across the face. Lights slowly fade.)
