To A Breaking Family - Poem by Katherine Coolage

You do realize, of course, that this strife spreads.
It isn't just you who cries.
But the whole house shakes as we pick up the broken pieces.

And slowly we heal.
The old wounds smooth over, and we wait, pretending to laugh.
Until today happens tomorrow.
