To A Disappearing Entity Poem by Carla Sofia Puebla

To A Disappearing Entity

A phantom caress slides off my memory.
These arms reach out for an outline
Made of clouds,
Soft, intangible, enticing,
I know I shall never see you again.
The bygone days leave
The door of my sentiments ajar
And grief inundates every window of
Myself, my remembrance of
you.
The deceptive recollection of past events
Feels heavier with every day that adds
To my age.
To ponder my thoughts inescapably
Condemns me to an unfathomable sorrow.
Yet despite the aggravated soul
That intermittently convulses
Withing my worn out heart,
I shall hold your image dearest.
Dearest, knowing my fallible memory
Eventually expels every element
That was once a source of grandeur,
Of poignancy, of mirth and melancholy.
Knowing the labyrinth of reminiscence
Haphazardly selects the most glorious
Or gloomiest moments.
A menace to my sanity that provides
Solace enough to withstand the
Passing years.
Notwithstanding the rue of you,
Each opportunity to gaze into the abyss
Of lost love proves to be
Comfort enough to subsist, to exist.
