For every blessing you brought
For every lesson you taught
For all the love and friendship
For the blessing of family and friends
For all the opportunities, and successes however little
For all the good and memorable moments
And every other good thing you bestowed
We say thank you, thank you, thank you
Now, with you we stand at the crossroads,
Your reliever beckoning with an infectious smile
Bearing a dazzling cornucopia of its own goodies
And a cocktail of dreams, hopes, aspirations, promises and offers
It's such a sweetly awful feeling as we watch you gracefully step back into irrelevance
You're going to be gone forever
But your name will remain with us
Our streets will retain your footprints
And our homes graphic memorabilia of the good times you brought.
Oh, the moment is here all too soon
It is time
You have to go
And we need to move on,
To welcome your successor
And accord her all the courtesies and niceties
As were done you at your cradle
Fare thee well,2018
