To Annette On Her Birthday Poem by Francis Duggan

To Annette On Her Birthday

Annette you are forty three so I've been told
But you don't look one forty three years old
And to your years your appearance give the lie
And you look twenty years younger than I.

A lady told me you are forty three
But I thought to myself this cannot be?
She looks so young through her brown hair no grey
And were I to guess near thirty I would say.

Why you look so young? could guess the reason why
You seem happy type and living you enjoy,
You hold no worries laugh your cares away
And take life as you meet it day by day.

To you we raise the toasting glass Annette
And may your forty third be your happiest birthday yet
So a happy birthday Annette from us to you
Famed 'Possum Woman' of Cole Avenue.
