To Begin Again... - Poem by AimeeLeigh Olsen

As you lift your eyes up to the sky
see me clear in this new light
It's not as if I was ever gone
just a burnt copy of what I used to be
My beloved scars are tell tale signs of
when I was naive of the inevitable
I misunderstood what you thought of me
but now I see it clearly.

We burn ourselves beyond recognition
We rise from the ashes and understand
'This is what is meant to be, to begin again we must be free'

As you lift your eyes up to the sky
think of me as you swallow the night
I picked up the pieces on my own
remember this now that I am whole
I've left myself to find the place
I once believed I'd found in you
so I pick myself up from the floor
I dust myself off and then I recall...

We burn ourselves beyond recognition
We rise from the ashes with some understanding
'This is what is meant to be, to begin again we must be free.'
