To Daddy....In Loving Memory Poem by Robert Dummett

To Daddy....In Loving Memory

Rating: 5.0

Saw you struggle with the fading of the light -
Saw you grasp the handle of this life;
Heard you whisper words that wing in flight -
Felt your prayers pierce all souls with strife.

A trinity of years claws at clouds of time,
Knocking on the broken bits of my heart -
Throwing up to me sacred ghosts sublime,
Ashes dust the sea when you depart.

I still finger scars of memory,
Which open up the bank of bygone years;
And thought in silence shoots in trajectory,
A faith in freedom from yesterday's fears.
