To Love Is But To Die Poem by Leslie Alexis

To Love Is But To Die

To know love in its truest form
Is to know death.
To love,
Means to die:
To close your eyes to all else,
To hold your ground,
Defend what’s yours.
To lie still -
To stand,
When your world says run.
To pull in your wondering lusts - -
To hold cupids hands,
More so,
His arrows;
To take your own aim -
To look through a barrel.
To love like a fool - -
To believe the inconceivable,
To bury memories,
To burn bridges;
To love with your heart,
Not your mind -
To live in your Heart's mind.
To search for and believe you have something special -
Something impossible to find.
To love through good,
Bad,
Happy,
Sad.
To love like a fool -
A fool unaware of time.
To sacrifice all
For your love's sake.
To forgive,
And forget,
What your heart cannot take.

I believe,
To love is but to die.
