To Love Me - Poem by Serena Constance Grobler

Now that we getting along
I feel like singing my song
How I know that I hurt you
Didn’t mean to desert you

This time our ending had come
We still weren’t having fun
Can’t you see it’s the best now
I think we need to rest now

Look deeply
Feel strongly
Please love me
All I want
Is for you
To love me
Just need me
Be whole with
Me by you

Now that we getting along
I am not feeling so strong
But I only now hurt you
You just made me desert you

Although our ending was near
I still did it out of fear
My life is a huge mess now
How come I just don’t know how?

Look deeply
Feel strongly
Please love me
All I want
Is for you
To love me
Just need me
Be whole with
Me by you

Being loveless for so long
Left me feeling far from strong
It’s not just me who hurt you
You know that you hurt me too

We always worried who’d won
Instead of having good fun
That first feeling never grew
And it’s all because of you

Look deeply
Feel strongly
Please love me
All I want
Is for you
To love me
Just need me
Be whole with
Me by you

I will never make you whole
I can never fill your soul
Did you pretend all along?
And why do you seem so strong?

Love was all I asked for
Love not something you’d explore
I just wasn’t good enough
Shame! Poor me life is so tough!

Look deeply
Feel strongly
Please love me
All I want
Is for you
To love me
Just need me
Be whole with
Me by you

As you listen to me sing
Just tell me only one thing
If you weren’t true, why pretend?
Why use? Couldn’t we be friends?

Looking back on this bad time
I see you just took what’s mine
My heart my life my one soul
All of what you took you stole

Look deeply
Feel strongly
Please love me
All I want
Is for you
To love me
Just need me
Be whole with
Me by you
