To My Bereaved Friend Not Yet Bereaved Poem by Janette Marshall

To My Bereaved Friend Not Yet Bereaved

My Dear friend, don’t fear

Grieve and let the pain hurt you,
then remember how you told me to Love After Love.
Think of good memories
trust you will have many more to come.

Don’t fear. You have not lost me or lost my love,
I have not abandoned you.

I understand your world and we speak our own language,
but don’t fear
this will live on inside you without me.

You will ache and mourn,
But don’t fear
emotions need to be respected but restrained
like beautiful yet dangerous animals
keep a watchful eye
longing, melancholy and sadness are their names
please show them no fear
for if you do they will conspire to devour you

To help you remember here is a poem from my heart

The reason these things
I’m telling you here
is I’ve heard my heart
Yes loud and clear

Listen to her beating
what a rhythm she has,
makes you want to dance
and many nights we have
she has many secrets to set free,
I’ll tell you one that she told me

Endeavour now from fear to part
For fear alone will kill the heart
Listen to me
is my beat not clear?
Well place your hand on me
Then you will hear …

Beat beat, beat beat, beat beat
Oh ignoramus I despise
LISTEN AGAIN
Trust me I’m wise
That’s it!
Be brave, be bold, be smart!
Love life, don't fear, your heart x
