To My Children Poem by Suchi Banerjee

To My Children

I have been too indulgent a mother,
I have been too blind.
I have always looked the other way
And now you are not very kind.

You are not very kind,
Not kind to me.
You take take and take
And I just give, give helplessly.

But boy let me tell you something,
Please listen to this mother,
Evil begets evil;
Your present joy is perhaps as fleeting as a feather.

You reap what you sow
You sow what you reap.
It is a vicious cycle,
You're falling in a dark dark hole, very very deep.

You are abusive, you disregard-
My welfare, my peace and you'll pay real hard.
You could still save yourself. I said run while you still can.
But you turned the other way while my blood still ran.

Now you'll pay, pay you will.
Oh, come to your senses, there is a little time still.
Now you hit me, you hit me; Oh no, not again!
Now my chest will burst and you shall feel the pain.

Pain fear destruction destruction
Death cries and more destruction
Terror terror, there's tearing apart
Tears and tears, and then God departs.
