Betrayal! Is it bad?
I thought its a way of life.
My name is woman and to me-
Betrayal no longer cuts like a knife;
...

Seasons come and seasons go;
Come again and then they go;
Seasons of the earth, not seasons of life;
Seasons of life only only go.
...

Mother says I'm grown up;
Grown up I must be
Because these days my mind misbehaves,
Misbehaves in ways a little girl cannot see.
...

Love is a two faced Janus;
It marks the beginning and end of conflict.
It heeds no power, knows no obstacle,
Its natural course, you cannot restrict.
...

I
I'm so tired, i cannot dance anymore;
Now that i cannot go on,
I just want to walk out of the door.
...

Demons they are,
Your inner demons.
Destruction they love,
For all the wrong reasons.
...

Pain... Ah, isn't she strange?
Bold and powerful, whiny clingy,
Shameless, heedless, she has no mercy;
Try as I may, she won't
...

I have been too indulgent a mother,
I have been too blind.
I have always looked the other way
And now you are not very kind.
...

Lessons are no good.
Lessons are worthless.
Lessons can hardly help in moments of madness
...

Near... nearer….very very near,
But the blue light of desire never quite so near;

Sudie stumbles, bumbles, then she fumbles,
...

Nowadays the kindly ulemas are no longer kindly;
No longer kindly, no longer friendly,
No affection, bestowed tenderly,
No sweets, no sweet words,
...

If only the world was kinder!
Kinder, nicer, benign and better.
Not yolked and strained under religious tether
It can be, it can be, it can be so much better.
...

Burning heart, a burning soul, a body full of pain.
Ashamed ashamed ashamed was I
Abandoned in the rain.
...

Stories and lores- all around
Find them, find them,
Curiosity hounds.
Here's a book and there's a book
...

A magnet on my back, magnet on my side
Keeps drawing me to her,
A heart-sore, I cannot hide.

Betray I Will.

Betrayal! Is it bad?
I thought its a way of life.
My name is woman and to me-
Betrayal no longer cuts like a knife;
For betrayed I was ever since God created mankind;
Betrayed I was when I was reduced to
Nothing more than post-war booty,
Meant to be plundered,
War spoils, nothing more.
Betrayed I was when I was killed in my mother's womb,
Meant to be unwanted-
An inconvenience, nothing more.
Betrayed I was when I wasn't allowed to study
As much as my brothers,
Meant to know my place, oh yes!
A liability, nothing more.
Betrayed I was when I was declared man's property,
Meant to be a slave,
Only chattel, nothing more.
Betrayed I was when I was educated,
Meant to bow down to patriarchy,
Educated just for the sake of it, nothing more.
Betrayed I was when my life ended in a dowry death,
Meant to be forever subservient,
Worthless worthless, nothing more.

But betray I will!
Yes, betray I will!
I will betray my son,
Yes I will sell him in marriage.
I will betray my daughter.
She will never raise her voice;
I will beat her to vent my frustration
And she will never raise her voice.
I will take away her books.
I will take away her freedom.
I will take away her thoughts.
I will take away her mind.
She has little rights-
She has little say-
So I will make her a fool
So that she doesn't die a death each day.
A fool she will be,
A fool she has to be,
Because her mother will betray herself,
A protester she will never be,
A protester she will never be,
A protester she will never be,
Never be.
