To My Dad - Poem by Bea Havinga

Four years ago today, was your last day on this Earth,
four years ago today, was your last day in my life.
Since that day I'm nobody's child anymore,
and I experienced things my heart can't ignore..

Four years ago today, was your last day on this Earth,
four years ago today, was your last day in my life.
Since then there is this empty space, that noone can fill,
the pain of your death is still vivid; Dad I miss you still..

Four years ago today, was your last day on this Earth,
four years ago today, was your last day in my life.
Since then the memory of you keeps me going,
your courage a guiding light, brightly glowing...

Four years ago today, was your last day on this Earth,
four years ago today, was your last day in my life.
Since then I've come to terms with the relativity of being;
that nothing is as dear as love and that death actually...
bears no meaning.

the most painful is losing a loved-one
    and though he left ahead
the best we could do is remember

    nice poem
