To My Gishu Mistress Poem by Sekyewa Godfrey

To My Gishu Mistress

Nights come and go,
But you forever stay.
Like a deep sweet dream.
What shall I call thee?
A rose so rare and dear!
Alas! Come you my gentle rose.
Daughter of the Great Elgon,
Let me whisper love to your ear.
Into your pillowy chest I seek solace.
Come you my delicate mistress,
I hold you slow with nine hands
Because like wet paper you tear.
I treasure you like the sun in the sky.
Give me your lips gentle rose,
Let me plant a kiss to soothe your doubting heart.
