To My Mom Poem by Megan Anderton

To My Mom

By Megan Anderton
(Authors note: I was born with a Bi lateral cliff pallet)

You made me into beauty not beast
Finding the best doc, before time stopped…
You saved me before my time…
Day by day, I’ve been able too see it at its fullest…
With no worry’s or complications….

These days I’ve been seeing the past…
When you cradled me in your arms
For the first time….
I felt warmth, not cold nor bitterness
I knew within, you accepted what you
Saw and loved me..
Tears of sorrow filled your eyes, not shame

As I struggled too breathe
I knew I had a life too fulfill,
With you every step of the way….

Feeding me through a tube,
That went down my throat.
The other end being a bag or bottle..
Pressing softly, too put the stress at ease…

At times I ended up throwing it up.
You feeling hopeless, tired
Full of reassurance towards me
You restarted from the beginning
As if it were your favorite movie.

Burping me for a while when succeeded.
Bringing the rocking chair too life,
We both dosed off into the peace
of our living minds…

When ever you had to go somewhere
Other than by my side it made me sad…
I wasn’t quite sure I could trust dad…

Leaving me behind in my cradle
While he took sis places
Made me feel like a stray of some kind

I didn’t like being left alone home
With no one too count on
Staring at the door afraid who would walk in.
I know for long periods of time I would cry
Hoping you or grandma would hear me
But no one was home too come comfort me…
Sometimes I would stop breathing….

When you would come home
Seeing that I was mortified and not attended
You would be in extreme anger with dad
Yelling at him in tears….
When he got home from where he had been with sis.
Me glaring at both of them…

Too be continued….

Yes, very touching indeed. I can see a great deal of passion in this poem and i can tell you could have written and written and written...impressive work!
