To My Pearl Poem by Namita Rani Panda

To My Pearl

An oyster I was alone
At the bottom of the fathomless ocean
A grain of sand you were
An intruder
You trespassed into my soft bosom
And for self-protection
I cage you with layers of affection
Smearing layers upon layers
Till you're caged in a smooth and lustrous cocoon.
And you turned to be my integral part
Which I can never part
My lovable priceless pearl
A tapestry of light and colour
The fruit of my persistent labour
Which I wish to preserve forever
But you left callously to adorn the crown of some other!
