To Our President Poem by Wykeshia McCallister

To Our President

'My name is Barak Obama,
And I want to be your black President, '
A simple, sincere statement from
A down-to-earth black man
During his time in office
He has set several precedents-
The type of changes within the economy,
And his major mott: 'Yes, We Can.'

Heretofore the president was a man
Who was on a higher self.
We looked up to him almost
As though he was Dr. Martin Luther King
Now we have one who seems to want
The limelight off of self,
And though well rounded in knowledge
Doesn't profess to know everything.

With the love and fear in his heart,
Like the disciples of old.
I'm sure he believes this statement:
'The Master is to be the servan of all.'
He is firm, positive, yet gentle and bold,
And appears to be anxious to answer problems' calls.
In countries at war, and others without food, we hope
You can change conditions.

Some have been fighting, and the others starving
For a number of years, they now need peace
And food, much more than ammuntion,
Which will be as a ray of sunshine,
That will wipe away tears.

Mr. President, I truly feel you'll
Do all the good you can
As far as I am concerned,
I do believe you are a very fine man!
