Land of the Free, Home of the Brave,
Nothing can cover the things you gave.
Stressful days, and sleepless nights,
Memories of children, their eyes so bright.
Pushing you on to face another foe,
The sparks from your rifle shining aglow.
Hunger and thirst, so well you knew,
But it was worth all for the Red, White and Blue.
Some marched upon earth, others the sky,
More, still, on the sea, so far and so wide.
Battle and rage burn across the ground,
Explosions so great they erase all sound.
Into the night, fires still smolder,
But in morning’s light, we see Victory’s holder;
The battle here exists no more,
And America, the Great, has peace restored.
Forward, our soldiers march on,
Soon to return home after the breaking of dawn.
Now on homeland again,
Honor shines brightly, deep from within.
The Medal of Honor you wear in your eyes,
As it the memories of others, never again to rise.
And here you stand; some battle scars healed, some quite new,
I would like to thank you all, on behalf of the Red, White, and Blue.
