To Papon, The Singer Poem by Himanshu Parida

To Papon, The Singer

Had I not heard you I still would have the hate for you
Had I not seen you perform, I still had the arrogance
Of not looking at you.
I only heard of you
Never listened to you.
I only knew that you had sexually assaulted a girl
You had advanced and crossed the limit to plant a kiss
On an unwilling lip.
Thank God I listened to you and started loving your songs
I could sense your soul reflected in your songs
Although long discussions of hate for you
Have been spread in the air and made a headline in the newspaper
Including in the panel discussions where your name appeared as a perverted man
Kissing an unwilling teenaged girl.
I really feel that I have no likes and dislikes of my own
Everything is drowned in the rant for the code of conduct
And behavior norms.
