To Some, This Year, Diwali Is Sad… Poem by Dr John Celes

To Some, This Year, Diwali Is Sad…

To some, this year, the lamps can’t glow
To brighten home and gifts won’t flow;
New dresses can’t be bought or worn;
The festive mood can’t home adorn!

To some, this year, sadnesses fill
The hearts and minds, with inmates ill;
Some kind of grief, demise or woes
Has crept onto the peaceful shores!

Even the thought of God doesn’t come;
The strife that came was unwelcome;
The taste-buds will not crave for sweet;
No cards or cracker-noise can greet!

Why everything has gone hay-wire?
Why water can’t quench this big fire?
Why pall of gloom afills the house?
No smile or laughter’s seen on spouse!

To some, this Diwali is sad!
No gaiety can make persons glad;
The recent shocking events stole
The happiness of life and goal!

Yet, things will make a U-turn soon!
The sky will have a bright sun, moon!
Life’s darkness will be filled by light
That grows to brighten day and night!

God will usher that season fast;
The lament will be thing of past;
New hope will light your life on earth;
Your home will flood with smiles and mirth!
