To Truly Appreciate Happiness Poem by Francis Duggan

To Truly Appreciate Happiness

Human feelings can be like a river that in drought times is low
That after heavy rain in stature does grow
And on towards the great ocean bank high does flow
To truly appreciate happiness sadness you must know
Most of us have our moments of feeling sad and down
And become numbered among the sad sacks of the town
In life you must live with the good and the bad
And how great to feel happy after knowing how it is to feel sad
The all of the time happy person a rare one sad to say
For most life does have the good and not so good day
To be sad and feeling down is never a crime
Feel lucky if you are happy for most of the time
Human feelings can be like a river in drought times quite low
That after heavy rain bank high does flow.
