sems she is in love with an ideal..and doesnt realise the man in front of her can fulfil what she needs

This poem is a bit confusing. If she loves the speaker, but the speaker will never be the man she loves, then this implies the speaker does not live up to her expectations. But the poem then implies that the speaker does not love 'her' unconditionally. It also implies he does not kill himself over and over for her. The poem leaves the impression that the speaker does not care for her. But the meter and rhyme of the poem imples that the speaker DOES care. This I got after reading a few times. On a single read I didn't understand at all. A reordering of lines can push the meaning of the poem 1 way or the other however the poet intends in this case. Which I can't determine.
