Is this the fateful day, it may be arriving now?
Precisely and exactly on time... this time
This mixed in with many ordinary days
Not to betray itself nor to cause alarm
When we awoke, nothing bespoke
Of the events that might be for today
This terrible day, that we could not pass
We all walk about as usual like before
No whisper nor sound reaches us
No peep, no hint of impending doom
Seeing or hearing will not be as before
Inside or outside, feeling or touching
Before we remember, indelibly etched
In our being of self, we once were
I was here or there, did this or that
I felt, Oh anything at all, just to be
