Today Is A Scorcher Poem by Francis Duggan

Today Is A Scorcher

Today is a scorcher some forty degrees
And heat in the sunshine and the warm breeze
The bullants are crawling on the sunbaked ground
And the paddocks so bare and so dry all around
On very warm weather the birds do not sing
And a warm start to Summer after a very dry Spring
And everywhere looking so bare and so dry
And not a rain cloud in the clear Summer sky,
In all of Victoria a total fire ban day
But in the weather patterns we do not have a say
For Nature she works in her own chosen way
And a cool breeze a blessing on a very warm day
And the buzzing of flies in the heat and dry breeze
And today is a scorcher some forty degrees.
