by M. Eminescu (1850-1889)
Today is the first day of May.
Today is May Pole day.
I look for you my dear.
I look for you all over.
I ask the springs,
And the fir forests,
And the wind
That puts balm, on my cheek with a gust.
I ask the high mountains,
I ask the rivers.
If they saw
— My life's jewel.
I loved you pretty darling,
You with your sweet flaws
— With your kind smile.
I shall love you from now to eternity.
I love you without complaints
— And without a bit of regret.
But oh my, I can't find you
— Anywhere, anywhere…
