Together Poem by Casey Gochnour

Together

Hannah, I was thinking we could run away,
Maybe not today or tomorrow, but someday.
You and me, baby, we can be free,
And we will be happy, I guarantee!

Can't we just go and leave this place?
You can hold my hand and give chase,
As forever we walk and run,
Following forever the light of the sun.

Oh, but we'll fall far behind and find the stars,
The shooting ones, too, those celestial cars!
You can spot them from the corner of your eye,
And when you yell, Look! Too late, it said goodbye!

I don't care if I miss it, it doesn't even matter,
Who needs stars when I have you to flatter?
My baby girl, my wonderful shining moon,
Over which many of men come to swoon.

So let's just run away,
We can dash into the fray!
Unafraid, courageous, side by side,
And maybe one day my wonderful bride.

Come now, Hannah! I'll be the king and you my queen,
Our pasts unscathed, our slates bright and clean,
We can walk through our kingdom without a worry in sight,
For our love provides a limitless light.

Let's just go and run away, talking for hours on end,
There's no other way I'd rather have my time spend.
We can talk about anything, as we always do,
Laughing and loving through and through.

I know escaping from it all can be scary,
Believe me, with every step we'll be wary.
Yet fearsome, brave, you and me, baby,
Forever together, with you as my lady.

So let's just run away.
