Tom Burns Poem by Francis Duggan

Tom Burns

He was a good friend of the Aussie battlers
And in politics he did have a lengthy span
Tom Burns a favourite son of Queensland
A dyed in the wool Labor Party man.

Tom Burns was a likeable fellow
The former Deputy Premier to Queensland's ex Premier Wayne Goss
No doubt he did have a good innings
But to his family and friends he is a huge loss.

A likeable sort of a character
Tom Burns one who laughed a lot
And those in his life that he befriended
By them he will not be forgot.

Tom Burns is at rest forever
With the dead of Queensland he lay
A great character in his own right
Politicians like him are rare today.
