Tongue Poem by Himani Singh

Tongue

Your assiduous tongue
Is finally stung
Venom diffuses and splutters
On your succulent lip
You stutter, can't utter
The words that were
Now are not.
They bite you
Excite you
And tell you a tale
You listen and glisten
And burn and disfigure
Your acidic existence
Now washed and gone
You embody nought
But with a guilty n
An apology could
What penance couldn't.
