In a world that's always changing
The stress of daily life can be too much
I was holding out but then I gave in
Some how I fell slightly out of touch...

Had the devil come for my very soul?
I shined a light on the darker parts of me
It was then that I lost all control
I was my own savior, who else would save me?

I said, Step into the light-
Murders and thieves come in the night
Reveal yourself and show me who you are
I'll show you that I love you, even if it's from afar

I was angery out of love-
I felt the hurt and hate you were made of
Rush into my heart, without fear or wanting to belong
Without you I'm nothing, without you I'm not strong

What I thought, wasn't what I thought
My life turned into a living nightmare
What I thought, wasn't what I thought
No one else saw or heard what was there

Tonight The dark will reign
Come over and ease the pain
With nothing to show, nothing to hide
I'll haunt your world inside

The fortress I built turned into a prison
Where the ghost of my past roamed free
Shackled to the wall by my indiscretions
The same ghost are no longer haunting me...

I fought myself- did you have faith I'd win?
The darkness whispered of all the good and bad
Promised me I'd never be free from sin
I niether surrendered or fought with all I had

Oh, you're so dark and lovely-
I can feel your presence reign over me
The light and dark got married in a waking dream
Harmony had blurred my vision, perfectly flawed was all it seemed.

You tried to make me lose my way-
It was then the dark could no longer stay
You always lied to me when I needed you the most
In and out of my life, the dark was just another ghost

What I thought, wasn't what I thought
A victoryless, victory is what I got
What I thought, wasn't what I thought
I lost my mind, how could I have forgot?

Tonight the dark will riegn
