Tonight Was The Last Night Poem by Zonda Davis

Tonight Was The Last Night

Rating: 5.0

Tears fell down a face.
Lips began to tremble.
A heart slowly beats.
Blood no longer flows.
The sun no longer shines.
The leaves are no longer green.
A life has just been taken
By someone controlling reasons.
She can no longer make excuses.
She always tried to understand,
still trying to figure out
why it happens again.

You've read it in the paper
so many times before,
Seen it on the news, but couldn't walk out the door.
She kept trying to be a home, where she thought he wanted to live.
She tried to be his car,
but she wasn't his choice of wheels.
She even tried to be the heat
That was trying to keep him warm
She attempted to give him everything;
the best within her was growing.
She would have swum the oceans
walked any given miles
just to keep the peace with him
while she carrying his child

She don't want to feel the pain he gives.
She tired of hiding the bruises.
She know it won't just be her this time;
Who he will be abusing.

She told all her family and friends again
If it happens she will be leaving
They tried to make her stay tonight
Deep down they didn't believe her
This time she knew she would
She had a different feeling
Not only did she had that feeling
She had a better reason

Tonight was the night.
She screamed at him, 'No more! '
Tonight will be the night, she walk out the door.
Tonight was the first night,
That she really tried,
But tonight will be the last night.
Because tonight, her baby and her died.
