Too Late To Regret Poem by Francis Duggan

Too Late To Regret

Too late to regret what has happened one friend lost another friend won
The past has gone live for the present tis too hard to undo what is done
You can help for to shape your future but you never can change the past
And though you feel quite despondent at present this mood like all moods will not last
We spend too much time in regretting the chances we have left slip by
The brimming well of past opportunity like the waterless well is now dry
Why worry about things we cannot change the present is what matter most
You've survived the setback that you've had that surely is worthy of a small boast,
On our life's journey we do make wrong choices but we all have the power to discern
Like Shaw said 'Life's Not Meant To Be Easy' though from our mistakes we should learn
In a World where money matters most only the minority can hope to succeed
And you really know who your friends are when you are in financial need
And too late to regret what has happened though better days may be ahead
The past you have as much hope of changing as of bringing one back from the dead.
