Torture Poem by Heather Owens

Torture

This tortured feeling has ate me up
my breath a wisp of the past
an emotion too deep to remember
a feeling in a moment
never treasured
a wound too deep
to disturb flesh
a heart beats
pains increase
separation between the two
duality of an emotion
I don’t want to feel
but yearn to grasp the essence of life
in the pain
so sweet
I must feel the pain
that lies in wait
too deep to save
