Towards Home Poem by abu tarek md tahsin

Towards Home

Rating: 5.0

The vague illness
Has overtaken the void
Nothing lasts except more time
Fearless in the wake of tears
I crawl towards the other side of my bed
Only to be greeted by better years

There is a sudden coldness
Through the open windows
Autumn must be close by

I light up a cigarette
And pour coffee into my cup
The trick works

The cigarette has burned a hole
Into the void
The vague illness is cured

I look out the window
The sun is still up in the sky
In the distance
I can see you in your red hatchback
Crisscrossing along the fields
Towards home
