Tranquilizer Poem by D.A. Woods

Tranquilizer

My hearts beating faster,
tensions are high,
emotions like a rollercoaster,
but I'm stuck here high.
I need to come down,
off this rail roads of sleepers,
I'm wearing my soporific crown,
in this land of dreamers.
Anxiety is laid at rest,
at least for another day,
into my peaceful heart there is access,
where nothing gets better, come what may.
Lows, my blues and yellows are working,
highs, my heads been sullenly distracted,
my in-betweens are cooperating,
tranquilization has left me counteracted,
and here I lay reciprocated.
Tomorrow the 1000 yard stares will arrive,
and my body to fall numb,
my head to overdrive,
and those railroad tracks to abstain from.
