Translation Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

Translation

would what i design myself
say as much in a different style?

fit as comfortably?

would clarity of concept
drape as naturally
and cadences fall in clear
lines on my awkward frame?

in cloth from foreign climes
would colours or patterns
not be a little strident?

would you not have to pin up
a little here, tuck in a little there
drop it off the shoulder
so it has a more or less casual air?

as a rule i do not come
for a fitting to your salon

normally i myself make the dresses that i wear:
i want their cut to have my distinctive flair.
