Traveling The Dog Winds Poem by Mark Money

Traveling The Dog Winds

Rating: 2.7

unstable as driftwood
blinded by her beauty
i have no choice but to travel the dog winds.

but i'm stuck in the city
surrounded by her
encircled by ties i can't cut loose.

so i stall in the heat
springsteen on the stereo
suffering and waiting for the wallpaper to peel.

sitting with an uneasy look
swallowing hard, i try
to twine my thin voice around a lyric or two.

making myself cry since
sound doesn't cover
the careless breeze kicked up by the dog winds.

it takes too much effort
to shake my head
i don't want to let the weather overtake me.

since i'm

unstable as driftwood
unsteady as the price of gold
but i'm traveling the dog winds like a champ.
