Trip To Moab... Again Poem by Aimee Rozen

Trip To Moab... Again

Rating: 4.5

The sun slowly makes its journey into the sky
the canyon begins to turn to its state of red
rocky landscape as far as the eye can see
from this boulder next to the RV
My home away from home
one week every year
movement comes from my comrads
as they open their sleepy eyes
ready for another hard days work
wind in your hair
sun beating upon skin
left exposed
There is not enough water
to quench the thirst of
the land we are about to embark upon
rubber on rock and dirt
the steel frame sending the
landscape changes
through our bodies
red sand creeping into everything
we own including our
eyes if it can break the
barrier we have tried to put up
Excitement pounding in my chest
adrenaline coursing through my body
and the best sleep I have ever had.
