Trouble On The Road Poem by Shelley Williams

Trouble On The Road

I drove too slow on the streets
and my parallel park, oh well!
I backed too far into an intersection
but in my mirror I couldn't tell.

The driving instructor shuddered
at the U-turn done instead.
A left turn at the intersection
was what the coach had said.

The traffic was not that bad
but honking horns kept blaring
It was my first day on the road
and I was not good at sharing.

There were others on the streets
and among them was a cop.
I didn't notice the speed limit
and the red signs that said stop.

I tried to notice every sign
like the ones that said 'One way'.
I wanted to obey traffic laws
and pass my road test that day.

Luckily I didn't get in trouble
but I was given enough warning.
I got stuck in a procession line
among all those in mourning.

I had passed the written test
but the road test was not good.
The fear caused a blank mind
and I didn't drive as well as I should.
