True Colours Poem by Silence Dogood

True Colours

We are'nt faking or pretending.
We've thrown away our disguise.
We've emptied our hearts of sorrow.
And no longer live a lie.

We've shown our true colours.
The world will finally see.
That we dont have a title.
Only the name of me.

You thought we were pro at posing.
That we were actors in a play.
You thought we put on a show.
That it was all just a game.

But we're tired of the masks.
That everyone wears.
We're showing ourselves.
But do you even care?

To you its just a scene.
A scripted line.
We're still acting to you.
Living out a lie.

Our characters will cry.
Only acted out tears.
They wont feel true anger.
Or have any real fear.

But the actors playing the roles.
Will feel the emotions in their heart.
It wont be scripted or acted.
No one can audition for this part.

You think we're still acting.
That we're wearing a mask.
Just improvising a scene.
But do you dare to ask?

We're tired of pretending.
Of living out a lie.
So we've shown our true colours.
And discarded our disguise.
