True Story Poem by douglas lewis

True Story

I dreamt I saw a kangaroo
snatch a squirrel from a tree.
In one chomp, two bites
and a swallow, it was gone.
The brutality of it all
is what struck me.
The horrors of a dream.
The next morning on the
second page of the newspaper
I read that a kangaroo was
loose in the Lower Mainland
of Vancouver. We do not
have kangaroos in Canada.
No one reported
a missing squirrel.
